This position is responsible for the repair and rebuild of bus or automotive bodies while using tools and equipment in a safe and professional manner. Also, maintains a clean, efficient, and safe shop area.
Duties & Responsibilities
This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules and regulations of the RTD Drug and Alcohol Policy.
Independent of technical guidance, repairs or rebuilds bus or automotive bodies, including major repairs
Welds steel and aluminum with arc, gas and all other welding equipment used by RTD without instructions.
Repair or fabricate fiberglass, aluminum, steel plastic or other body parts as needed.
Operate and perform repairs on all RTD vehicles and equipment
Cut and fit all body glass.
Spray paint and use of spray painting equipment.
Repair, sew, clean, cover all upholstered materials.
Perform basic electrical air systems and hydraulic repairs
Identification and requisition of parts from storeroom and vendors.
Cleaning shop and personal work areas.
Safe operation and proper care of shop tools and equipment.
Duties will be performed without direction from supervisor.
Accurate completion of repair orders, core and warranty tags, parts slips and other records as required.
Use CRT to pull up MRS reports on coaches.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
All applicants must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Colorado Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Class B with passenger endorsement.
Applicants cannot have more than five (5) points assessed against driving record in past two (2) years.
All applicants must be certified or capable of qualifying as a certified forklift operator within their 90 day qualifying period.
All applicants must pass the required Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
All applicants are required to have a complete set of SAE and metric hand tools.
All applicants must have a general knowledge of EPA and DOT rules and regulations that apply to them and their work environment and are required to stay current with such rules and regulations.
Must have a minimum of three (3) years body shop experience.
Basic knowledge of safety rules and Regulations as they pertain to this position.
