The Telemetry Tech/LPN supports and utilizes the team concept in daily practice to maximize function of the unit, works with Department Head/RN to coordinate patient care activities, obtains, cleans and returns equipment and supplies, maintains medical records, performs unit secretary tasks generated by computerized order entry and performs the duties of the cardiac monitor tech to include: monitoring, running and documenting rhythm strips, reviewing memory banks, promptly alerting the nurse of patient rhythm changes, and assuring that monitors are watched by a qualified person at all times. Performs clerical and receptionist duties in accordance with the mission and values of CVMC. The Telemetry Tech/LPN may rotate to other departments and will perform only those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competencies.
License/Certification: Must have a current and valid LPN license in the state of Virginia. Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
Experience: Must have at least one (1) year of hospital experience as a LPN or Telemetry Tech.
Required Skills: Successful completion of a basic dysrhythmia course and demonstrated competency. Exceptional customer service, medical terminology, organization and problem solving skills. Must be able to interpret cardiac rhythms, and communicate abnormalities to nurses and physicians.
