Accountant - StaffCompensation:
$50,000.00 to $55,000.00 per year
Our Client, a premier aviation company on the west side is looking for a Senior Accountant. The person in this role will provide day-to-day leadership over the Accounting Department ensuring the operational accuracy, effectiveness and compliances of the accounting department. The Senior Accountant will actively participate in financial matters involving the Controller as required. Evaluate the impact of new and evolving accounting requirements and design procedures, as warranted and recommend necessary changes to the Controller. What you get to do every day - Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision - Regularly maintain and reconcile journal entries - Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll - Survey and organize various financial data, reporting it in a useful and understandable manner - Prepare analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management to report on - Prepare monthly financial close workbooks to support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process - Manage intercompany reconciliation, billings, and transactions - Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP - In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts - Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments - Upon request, take part in special projects and impromptu reporting - Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation - Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives
- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus - Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why" - Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics - Proficient in ERP systems - Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills - GAAP Accounting experience desired - Competent with spreadsheets and databases - Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement - Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases - Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines - 2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
