Job Description

Role

Flight instructors will accept Private Pilot, Instrument, and Commercial Pilot candidates and train them to meet or exceed Airman Certification Standards. Flight instructors will also accept flights with non-primary students, when primary instructor is unavailable, to offer streamlined instruction for all students. Instructors will aid in student onboarding, student scheduling, airplane towing/parking, airplane fueling, maintaining clean aircraft, and promote new ideas and procedures to the Chief Flight Instructor. Instruction includes flight instruction, simulator instruction, and ground instruction (in-person or virtual) in accordance with FAA Part 61 and 141 regulations.

Reports to: Chief Flight Instructor

Responsibilities

• Provide flight training in accordance with FAA Part 61 and 141 rules and regulations

• Contact and meet with new customers to familiarize them with the facility, policies and procedures, and flight training courses

• Learn and understand flight school curriculum and provide flight training in accordance with the flight school Training Course Outlines

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records to comply with FAA Part 141 requirements (computer and logbook records)

• Ensure course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met in each training course

• Aid in new student onboarding and scheduling

• Ensure students abide by the Twin Cities Flight Safety Procedures and Practices Manual

• Provide feedback on student progress and make student specific suggestions

• Provide feedback on airplane status and functions – note and report any discrepancies

• Aid in the maintenance of clean, presentable aircraft

• Aid in maintaining a clean training environment for students

• Maintain familiarity with FAA regulations, training requirements, Advisory Circulars, and airport operations

• Abide by company policies

• Meet each student’s personal needs to ensure they complete the course in a timely matter

• Arrange for student Stage Checks to efficiently progress student through the course

• Provide high quality customer service to students

• Aid other instructors and staff to maintain a healthy atmosphere that provides valuable services to all

• Attend staff meetings and standardization training

• Participate on digital staff platforms to maintain familiarity with facility changes, aircraft status, closures, meeting announcements, general announcements, curriculum updates or changes, and staff events.

• Confirm that student/renter has required documents on file before flight instruction is given

(Instrument requirement may be waived based on company needs at time of inquiry)

• Satisfactorily perform initial and recurrent flights with Chief Flight Instructor required under 14 CFR 141

• Display satisfactory ground and flight knowledge to Chief Flight Instructor for each course

• Participate in drug and alcohol testing program
