What You Will Be Doing

The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate in the design and development of laboratory instrumentation by designing mechanical concepts and engineering designs including: 3-D models and detail drawings, BOMs, design review presentations, contacting outside vendors and validating new designs in the lab.

The position fulfills an integral role on the analytical instrument design team which is responsible for new product development.
The successful candidate is a self-motivated, energetic, and innovative engineer with experience in electro/mechanical design who can contribute to the development of automated equipment for the laboratory. Will work closely with sales to define project requirement and develop appropriate solutions.


What You Need for this Position

Requirements:
•BS or an advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
•Experience with Machine/Instrument design.
•Strong engineering analysis skills to support design decisions - capability to do detailed analysis.
•The position requires highly developed trouble-shooting skills, well-developed hands-on skills, and strong self-motivation.
•The ideal candidate will have an ability to create innovative, rugged, simplified designs.
•Knowledge of 3-D CAD software preferably Inventor.
•Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as Machining, welding and sheet metal fabrication.

Knowledge & Skills:
•Experience with any of the following is preferred but not required.
•Experience with industrial controls and the associated environmental requirements.
•Experience with circuit and/or logic simulation tools.
•Experience with lab tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
