Wellstar Health System is seeking Board Certified Internal Medicine physician, for Graduate Medical Education Program Director position, with Wellstar Spalding Regional Hospital. This 160-bed hospital serves the residents of Spalding, Pike, Lamar, Butts, Upson, and Henry Counties.
We are looking for a physician who is interested in starting a new GME program in Spalding, with the support of other well-estalished GME programs currently located at Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center and Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center. We are asking for a minimum of five years of experience as a faculty member at an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine training program, with at least three years of graduate medical education administrative experience. And, a proven history of scholarly activity consistent with ACGME guidelines.
A skilled clinician who prioritizes patient-centered care. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The understanding and ability to teach as measured by the success of the residents that he or she has trained. The ability to manage a departmental budget and staff. Knowledge and understanding of the requirements for enduring accreditation as an ACGME-accredited program in Internal Medicine.
Other duties as outlined below -
1. Program Administration of the Internal Medicine Department:
Oversight of the Departmental operations and budget
Preparation and submission of all information required by ACGME
Evaluation of Program Faculty and leadership of Faculty Development
Selection, evaluation and professional development of residents
Coordinates activities with the Chairman of the Internal Medicine Department of the Hospital Medical Staff
Other Administrative duties as outlined by ACGME Program Guidelines
2. Teaching, Evaluating, and serving as a Preceptor for Residents:
Oversight of the Internal Medicine curriculum design and implementation
Participation in didactic and simulated instruction
Supervision of Residents in Direct Patient Care
Evaluation of Residents progress toward appropriate Milestones
3. Scholarship consistent with ACGME Guidelines such as:
Prepare an enduring curriculum based on a needs assessment
Participation in clinical research with publication in scholarly journals
Attendance and presentations at professional society meetings
4. Clinical Practice:
Maintain an office based clinical practice where patients are seen on a regular basis
Participation in an on-call schedule consistent with clinical practice needs
Participation in Hospital Medical Staff departmental activities
Participation in Community health-related activities
