Job Description

Directly
supervise and coordinate the activities of production workers, such as
inspectors, precision workers, machine operators, assemblers, fabricators, and
plant and system operators.



 Tasks



  • Enforce safety and sanitation
    regulations.

  • Direct and coordinate the activities
    of employees engaged in the production of metal fabrications; such as
    inspectors, welders, machine operators, fabricators, sandblasters, painters,
    laborers and truck drivers.

  • Confer with other supervisors to
    coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.

  • Plan and establish work schedules,
    assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.

  • Inspect materials, products, or
    equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.

  • Supervise, oversee/direct the
    scheduled preventative maintenance of shop equipment.

  • Teach and train fabrication
    personnel in equipment operation, safety and process improvement.

  • Conduct safety awareness
    communication

  • Ability to input
    and evaluate data from our work based interface and query software. 

  • Electronic mail
    software — Email software; Microsoft
    Outlook 

  • Ability to Work
    in Microsoft Office programs such as;
    Excel, Word, Project, Power Point, & Access

  • Enterprise
    resource planning ERP software –
    Oracle, JD Edwards Enterprise One ; Retain Resource Planning; SAP 

  • Internet browser
    software —Google Chrome; Microsoft
    Internet Explorer;

  • Time accounting
    software — PM Vitals, Kronos Workforce
    Timekeeper; Timekeeping software

  • Knowledge of SAP
    a plus.

  • Other software
    abilities as the position develops.

  • Production and
    Processing — Knowledge of raw materials,
    production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for
    maximizing the effective manufacture of quality fabrications.

  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their
    designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. 
    Ability to problem solve systematically for success.

  • Administration
    and Management — Knowledge of business and
    management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation,
    human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and
    coordination of people and resources.

  • Personnel and
    Human Resources — Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training,
    compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel
    information systems.

  • Engineering and
    Technology — Knowledge of the practical
    application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying
    principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production
    of various fabrications to achieve the best solution manufacturing solution.

  • CNC Equipment-  Must have CNC
    process knowledge of burning and automated shape processing systems.

  • Quality System-  Must understand
    quality manufacturing of metal fabrications and how to build the quality into
    the product.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of five years' related experience in fabrication or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Knowledge of building construction, means and methods, scheduling and cost control procedures, general contract, general conditions, subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, including Microsoft Office Suite and proficiency in EH&S applications. Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings specifications, scopes of work and project schedule. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.

Performance of the duties will occasionally require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear (bells, whistles, etc.), stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.


Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
