The Defense Group is seeking a highly skilled Test and Evaluation Engineer (T&E) to be a part of our Dayton, Ohio team of engineers to support the design, development, prototyping, integration, and test and evaluation of novel aero-structures for DoD customers. The candidate T&E Engineer will develop, administer and supervise a comprehensive test and evaluation program in support of US Air Force (USAF) Life Cycle Management Center (LCMC) efforts related to the AgilePod® Maturation Program.  

In this role, you will perform and supervise all aspects of Test Concept Development including: understanding the system, understanding the operating environment, scenario development, measures development, human factors, parallel activities, technical reviews and post-approval activities. Additionally, you will interface with all levels of engineering, program management, and program leadership, including T&E counterparts, AFLCMC directorates and headquarters, AFRL, HQ AFMC, prime contractors and subcontractors, and other government and private sector personnel.

Primary Responsibilities
-Develop a Test and Evaluation (T&E) and initial operational test and evaluation (IOT&E) approach across the program life cycle with event-based tests and reviews with entry, exit, and measures of success criteria
-T&E approach shall provide data about the system design, capabilities, and limitations in relation to the SRD and the System Specification to inform a production decision
-Conduct and evaluate the results of and performance tests on the pods to demonstrate full compliance with each System and Sub-System Specification
-Develop a detailed Developmental Test Evaluation Plan (DTEP) outlining the T&E Strategy to include factory acceptance testing, planned use of modeling and simulation, and ground and flight test strategy and execution, conduct testing and report on findings.
-Recommend design changes as a result of the developmental tests including trade-off impacts 
-Responsible for conducting systems, materials, and structure testing on aero-structures and related aircraft systems as the AgilePod design is matured through its development life-cycle
-Conduct and formally report the results of the functional and physical configuration audits
-Develop and conduct qualification/acceptance testing incorporating guidance from and USAF government program test manager and Government developmental and operational test organizations
-Identify testing techniques and procedures permitting an integrated testing approach through contractor testing (CT), developmental testing (DT), and operational testing (OT)
-Collaborate with other program participating test agencies as required during the program
-Participate in monthly test planning meetings and quarterly integrated test working groups
-Author and perform acceptance test procedures (ATP) for those requirements which must be verified prior to flight test and have not already been verified at unit level testing
-Execute a robust test program to discover and correct failure modes at the lowest possible level of assembly, demonstrate reliability at the system level and maintain and grow reliability

Job Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below

-A related Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. 
-Knowledge, experience and demonstrated ability to perform independently in the position as a Test and Evaluation Engineer
-Exceptional writing and presentation skills.
-Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team.
-Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office applications.
-10% CONUS travel

Security Clearance Requirement
-Must have an active DoD Secret level of clearance


Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration
-Mechanical, Reliability, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering Degree
-Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level II or higher in Test
-USAF related Test and Evaluation experience 
-Experience in Agile Development and Testing environment 
-Experience in DoD related Developmental Testing and Initial Operational Test & Evaluation
