Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Emerson Charlottesville/Virginia, VA Full Time

DESCRIPTION:  

We are looking for a meticulous leader and software engineer passionate about ensuring quality production software. As a Senior SDET, you will design and implement automated tests for our software suite of products and own the tools and frameworks that facilitate them. You have advanced programming skills which you use as your main tool in testing software.

AS A SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER, YOU WILL:

  • Write code/scripts to automatically test various pieces of our system to supplement existing code coverage
  • Ensure quality of production software releases
  • Maintain and improve our software automated testing infrastructure
  • Understand requirements and designs of development work to create and execute test cases
  • Work closely with development teams to provide input on testability of features and designs
  • Review automated tests written by development teams to ensure complete coverage
  • Explore and utilize new technologies to continually improve our infrastructure and processes
  • Take responsibility for monitoring product development and usage at all levels with an eye toward improving product quality

  • You experiment with a wide range of existing technologies, while applying new and emerging options that can enhance organizational outcomes.
  • You display a can-do attitude in good and bad times.


REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Excellent C# programming skills
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as NUnit, XUnit, or MSTest
  • Experience with mocking frameworks
  • Experience with .NET development
  • Experience leading early career engineers and mentoring
  • Deep knowledge of test methodologies, writing test plans, creating test cases, and debugging
  • Experience with building automated validation of product user interface (i.e. tools like Ranorex)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
