Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse at Garfield Park Hospital provides professional nursing care in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy and objectives of the Hospital. Registered Nurses prescribe, coordinate and delegate nursing care by integrating the nursing processes into our multidisciplinary treatment team’s plan of care. The Registered Nurse is responsible for assigned nursing care activities, maintaining all required records, and for promoting and enhancing professional nursing practices on the unit. A Registered Nurse may also assume Charge Nurse responsibilities as needed.

Job Requirements

Education: Graduate from a professional nursing program required.

Experience: One year prior psychiatric/mental health nursing preferred. 

Licensure/Certification: Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois required.

Knowledge: Possess knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management, and have CPR training. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Must be self-motivated, results-oriented individual who is customer focused. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are a plus.
