Job Description

Junior Staff Engineer

This is a key position at Noren Products in Taylor, Texas. The position will have broad visibility in the business unit.

Responsibilities include performing 3D modeling and drafting of sheet metal components, tooling, and other heat exchanger related products in response to guidance or direction from engineers and technical management. The position involves both original design work and modeling from markups and spreadsheets.  Desirable characteristics are high energy, self-starters interested in advancing their technical abilities. Knowledge of industry standards ASME, ASTM, API, and ISO is not required, but desirable. This role will include a rotation into other areas of the business during the training period.

Principal Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs 3D modeling of sheet metal components, tooling, and other heat exchanger related products.
  • Creates detailed production drawings.
  • Prepares bills-of-materials (BOM) and enter them into the ERP system.
  • Prepares engineering release notices (ERN).
  • Participates in design review meetings with engineers and representatives of other company functions as needed.
  • Assists in design validations.
  • Interfaces with manufacturing and other engineering sites as required completing design work.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Technical training in 3D modeling or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficient in the use of 3-D modeling software (SolidWorks preferred), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Candidate must have excellent verbal and writing communication skill
  • Basic knowledge of working with PDM software.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawing GD&T (ANSI Y14.5) is preferred.
  • Ability to work with general supervision, close supervision not required
  • Ability to self-organize, plan and report activities
