The Opportunity:

As a Senior Health Benefits Analyst, you will serve as the liaisonbetween client and their vendors supporting the employee benefit strategiesthat meet the need of your client and their employees.
Under the direction and guidance of the unitmanager, health/benefits consultants and lead health benefit analysts, you willbe responsible for reviewing client contracts and benefit agreements withinsurance carriers for accuracy and compliance as well as, building analyticsto understand plan performance, funding approach that match your client’s risktolerance.
A typical day will consist ofstrategic planning and setting goals as a partner with your client, assessingperformance and actionable outcomes, celebrating successes as we grow ourbusiness and ensuring that we have improved the lives of those we touch bymaking the best recommendations for vendors, benefits, and affordable solutionsfor our clients.


The Senior Health Benefits Analyst works under thedirection and guidance of the unit manager, health/benefits consultants andlead health benefit analysts. Works independently and on teams exercisingcooperation, initiative and a commitment to achieving quality in work productsand meeting assignment and project deadlines. Contributes own thinking toenhance the value and quality of work products. Must possess excellentcommunication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills with ability to interacteffectively with a diverse audience. Must have strong project management skillsand work ethics.


The Role:
  • Possesses and/or develops and applies competentknowledge of and skills in core health benefits and managed care services andproducts as described under the analyst role;

  • Works with and analyzes complex data to includedemography, claims experience, financial performance, cost-effectiveness,budget projections, renewal analysis, health delivery system and/or otherbenefits related issues;

  • Reviews client contracts and benefit agreementswith insurance carriers for accuracy and compliance; issues request forproposals and analyzes responses to assist clients in selecting a financiallyviable option that will deliver high quality benefits to their participants;

  • Prepares reports and memoranda communicatingresults of analysis to consultants and client;

  • Interacts effectively at senior levels withhealth benefits staff, consultants and clients on more complex matters;

  • Client contact on routine matters and attendsclient meetings as needed;

  • Acts as liaison between client and third partyvendors regarding contract, service and coverage issues;

  • Reviews work completed by health benefitanalysts for accuracy, completeness and quality and, may supervise analysts onthe completion of tasks.


Key Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree with academic training in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Accounting, Mathematics, Business, etc.) and analytical skills plus; 3-4 years of health benefits, managed care, and/or underwriting experience;

  • May be an entry point for individuals with a graduate level academic degree and/or training in relevant health disciplines (e.g., health administration, public health, etc.)

  • Sitting for and passing CEBS exams and/or pursuing other relevant accreditation (e.g., HIAA) preferred
