Training & Development Manager

Wolters Kluwer Santa Fe, NM Full-Time

Training and Development Manager, Technology Organization role works closely with the Technology organization to plan, design and deliver high quality, interactive technical training. The individual will assess current training and support resources to determine effectiveness. The Training & Development Manager role is expected to teach and train on various skills and strategies which equip the technology organization to both meet the business objectives and help ensure customer satisfaction and retention. The desired outcome for this role is increased capability for technologists in current and go forward skill areas, as well as to increase the engagement scores around development for our technology population.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Act as the focal point of all technical Learning and Enablement for the technology organization.

  • Proactively partner with CTO and other support functions (e.g. Human Resources) to identify and prioritize strategic initiatives or process improvement ideas for the assigned business (i.e., technology) and identify, design & deliver training solutions to resolve.

  • Engage with technology leaders to understand their requests for learning and enablement and liase with the CTO to provide feedback loop and prioritization.

  • Maps out quarterly and annual plans to deliver creative interventions that enable performance

  • Collaborates with an instructional designer and technology SMEs to identify innovative solutions and execution plans for various blended learning programs including, but not limited to: live and virtual instructor led training, certifications, online learning (Pluralsight, LinkedIn learning, Microsoft training), etc.

  • Delivers training to both newly hired employees and existing employees using a variety of instructional techniques. Teaches adults new and traditional subjects in a helpful, engaging manner. Adapts teaching methods to accommodate individuals who may respond better to alternative approaches.

  • Ties theory to real-world day in the life for the technology team. Leads with appropriate examples and using the right audience terms to bring emphasis to the training material.

  • Analyzes the effectiveness of training and workshops to the employees and develops appropriate modification if needed.

  • Develops systems to monitor and ensure employees are performing their responsibilities according to the training.

  • Documents and communicates progress, completion status, strengths and opportunities to leadership and other critical partners as part of an on-going coaching plan.

  • Responsible for increasing utilization and effectiveness of Pluralsight training platform.

  • Identifies technical certifications required for success by job. Develops and manages a process and budget to ensure employees are gaining and maintaining certifications.

  • Keeps current with emerging trends and best practices in the technical learning and enablement space. Pursues professional development by participating in relevant webinars, following and reading professional thought leadership, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional training networks.

  • Proactively partners closely and collaborates with the broader Learning & Enablement team, subject matter experts (SME), and/or other supporting functions to deliver content that resonates with the audience.

Job Qualifications

Education:

4-year college degree or relevant equivalent experience required.

Experience:

  • Requires 5 years of relevant, related experience to including:

  • Technical Training and/or instruction design, preferably in a B2B environment

  • Talent management background (internal movement, succession, employee engagement, goal setting)

  • Professional training (Live sessions, either in person or virtually) using adult learning methodologies in a B2B sales environment

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

  • Proven track record in performance improvement initiatives

Preferred Experience:

  • 4-year bachelors degree

  • Experience in the software industry or other professional services industry

  • Experience in the tax and accounting industry

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, interacting with all levels of employees and management

  • Excellent presentation skills both in person and virtually.

  • Excellent organizational and/or project management skills required.

  • Ability to work with others to learn about products and processes.

  • Ability to be proactive in asking questions and getting questions answered.

  • Must be objective and exercise good judgment.

  • Able to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Self-starter that takes initiative; seeks out and has ability to drive change through persuasion and leadership

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Project manages with a highly collaborative style, deadline sensitive high priority programs and deliverables with a team-focused attitude.

  • Creative and innovative

  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills

  • Team oriented, cooperative, and flexible. Demonstrated ability to collaboratively work with a wide range of people at all levels of the organization

  • Strong understanding of the business and the industry. Proven track record of providing direct guidance and coaching to organizational stakeholders (e.g., leaders and employees) seeking expert advice. Commercially minded

  • Ability to be agile and adapt to a changing environment

Travel requirements

Up to 20% trips for trainings, or team meetings when necessary (as US Government and CDC guidelines allow)

Physical Demands

Normal office environment - may be a remote, home-based position
