Overview of Responsibilities
Documentation Specialists reps will be working in office/call center and will be placing outbound calls, as well as receiving inbound calls . They will be following-up with providers to obtain missing documentation needed to file a claim for patients. This could be anywhere from asking a simple question for a signature on a document to asking a physician to elaborate on a wound care patient for treatment needed/recommended. We need someone who has good attention to detail as they will be collecting this documentation and updating information received into their internal database. They will take few calls inbound, but they should be expecting to make 30-40 calls a shift and close out around 25-30 patients' documents/verifications. They also need to be able to provide excellent customer service over the phone and have somewhat thick skin due to that some providers/physician may be "annoyed" that they are calling for documentation. Insurance knowledge/ background is great for the role as if they can understand how insurance effects the claim process it will help them catch on quicker in the role. Also if they have billing knowledge that will work, too.
