The Philadelphia Children's Crisis Response Center is a new program for the triage, intervention and stabilization of children and adolescents between the ages of 3 through 17, who are experiencing behavioral and psychiatric crisis.  This continuum of care includes a crisis and transitional unit that provides brief treatment and/or stabilization in an age appropriate, family centered, trauma informed environment.

The Philadelphia Children's Crisis Response Center (PCCRC) is currently seeking a PRN, Senior Crisis Social Worker.

The Senior Crisis Social Worker will provide comprehensive case management, as described below, for PCCRC patients when assigned.  Senior Crisis Worker will collaborate with treatment teams to assess and develop treatment and discharge recommendations based on existing hospital policies and departmental procedures related to patient consent and confidentiality laws. The Senior Crisis Worker will provide family and individual therapy as guided by the treatment plan and recommended level of care.   The Senior Crisis Worker will also interface with patient insurance representatives to facilitate the authorization of pre-treatment certification for recommended levels of care and perform ongoing concurrent reviews according to PCCRC policy and managed care contract/third party payor requirements.  The Senior Crisis Worker is required to provide services to the child and adolescent population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.

Senior Crisis Social Worker:

Will provide structured assessments and evaluations of the individual, their family dynamics and psychosocial supports/stressors.

  • Will facilitate family and interagency meetings as indicated by the treatment plan and evaluation recommendations.
  • Will provide psychoeducation and psychotherapeutic intervention to the individuals and their families to include development of safety plans as well as brief, evidence-based interventions to stabilize symptoms.
  • Will complete documentation as outlined in the PCCRC policy, procedure and standards.
  • Will facilitate continuity of care by documenting contact with outpatient providers, arranging timely aftercare appointments and ensuring the aftercare plan is faxed to the next provider. 
  • Will effectively communicate and collaborate with the individuals insurance companies to secure all necessary authorization for services recommended by completing precertifications, concurrent reviews and discharge reviews as indicated.
  • Will facilitate the mental health commitment/court process as indicated by the level of commitment on admission.
  • Will complete safety assessments to include risk for neglect and abuse and initiate duty to warn as well as remain in compliance with all reporting and documentation requirements as it pertains to reporting these safety concerns to childline.
  • Will participate in the development and documentation of treatment plans as indicated by the recommended level of care.
  • Will make referrals for and secure all recommended aftercare services within the required time frames and complete all necessary aftercare paperwork.

 The ideal candidate will:

 Master’s degree in social work, or related licensure-eligible area (counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, education).  Degree must be from an accredited program or approved school.

  • Experience with ASD/ID diagnosis required.
  • Familiar with the community based child and adolescent resources in the city of Philadelphia required.
