Advanced Product Development Manager

Manchester, MI

Position Overview:

The Advanced Product Development Manager is responsible for fulfilling the company's product technology innovation requirements that support the business and commercial growth goals via Strategy development and implementation working in conjunction with Manchester Innovation team and Regional and Local Commercial leads, while collaborating and aligning efforts and strategy with other key functions of the organization like Operations & Customer Solutions and Supply Chain.

    Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Define and manage advanced development project scopes, technical targets, role and responsibilities, deliverables, and schedules, based on business strategy and external partners.   
  • Consistently establish strategic relations and timely dialogue between various customers, departments, and personnel to develop partnership and cohesive teams. Promote open and continuous communication
  • Review, coach and grow staff across the organization regarding the advanced development process.
  • Manage organizational long-term plans with a focus on innovation and growth.
  • Review proposed and ongoing project requirements to determine time frame, funding, procedures, etc. for completing the projects.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, anticipating their needs and providing support to them as requested.

    Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical or engineering field, with Consumer- Packaged-Goods industry experience. MBA, Business Development formation and/or experience is a very important plus.
  • Minimum seven years engineering and manufacturing experience, including commercial and project management experience.
  • Strong Strategic thinking and ability to interpret vision to define goals and set direction for action.
  • Demonstrates leadership to upper management and to Product Development team.
  • Strong management, communication, and people skills to influence and manage multiple resources
  • Strong interpersonal skills required to communicate technical and financial information and to complete project assignments.
  • Able to analyze problems, identify issues and implement solutions.
  • Lead efforts at all levels and with other departments.
  • Self-directing to meet goals set by organization.
  • Maintains a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets, employees, customers, and consumers.
  • Demonstrates competency in project cash-flow management and monthly project forecasting.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project software. Experience with Windchill Product Lifecycle Management is preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Spanish/ English – Portuguese a plus

    Relationship:

  • Commercial and Operations stakeholders.
  • Corporate R&D
  • Upper management, peers, and to Product Development team.
  • Internal relationships with quality control, purchasing/procurement, and finance.
  • External relationships with clients and vendors.
