Role Description:

AXIS Insurance, a world leader in specialty lines insurance including professional liability within the US market, is seeking a Claims Manager for its Management Liability claim team. Reporting to the Head of Management Liability Claims, the Management Liability Claims Manager position is a people/technical leader focusing on middle market exposures and large account exposures for CMS and FI.

AXIS is a hybrid work environment. Ideal candidates will be able to work in-office 2-3 days a week as requested. Other remote locations may be considered.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

* Directly handle a half pending of Management Liability claims, with an emphasis of Middle Market accounts and Large FI accounts.
* Manage a small team of claim professionals who also directly handle Management Liability claims, with an emphasis on Middle Market accounts.
* Manage team KPI's including: new claims, closed claims, and pending claims.
* Conducts file reviews on a monthly basis to ensure best in class claims handling.
* Mentors the team on preparing timely, appropriate and concise large loss evaluations and reserve recommendations suitable for distribution to senior management.
* Collaborates with the Head of Management Liability, Senior Litigation Counsel, and the team on coverage evaluations, drafting appropriate correspondence and communicating positions in a timely and clear manner.
* Communicates regularly with senior claim and underwriting managers, including at quarterly meetings where large losses, account trends, and industry trends are discussed.
* Professionally represents AXIS in the marketplace, at mediations, monitoring trials and assists underwriting as needed.
* Responds to broker and insured inquiries with a high level of customer service and urgency.
* Other duties as assigned including directly handling claims as needed.

* Adjuster licenses where required.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote) and Share Point.


* Juris doctorate preferred.
* Minimum of 7 years of experience handling or leading Management Liability claims with an emphasis on Middle Market including managing panel counsel and litigation management.
