Job Description

The QTI Group is recruiting for an Human Resources Manager for our client located just north of Madison. Reporting to the Director of HR Services and supervising one HR Generalist, the HR Manager will be responsible for the full spectrum of day-to-day HR activities to support approximately 350 employees in a heavy manufacturing operation.


  • Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Carry out full lifecycle recruiting activities including sourcing, screening and interviewing all the way through the selection and onboarding process.
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Manage employee records including insurance and pension plan participation, employment status changes (hire, promotion, transfer, exit) and performance reviews, as well as employee statistics for government reporting.
  • Coordinate management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
  • Provide direction in handling employee relations issues, serving as a trusted resource by being available to managers and supervisors to assist them in addressing employee issues based on company policy and employment laws. Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs.
  • Administer performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
  • Administer salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within organization.
  • Administer benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
  • Investigate accidents and prepare reports for insurance carrier.
  • Conduct wage surveys within local labor market to determine competitive wage rate.
  • Prepare budget of HR operations.
  • Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation and conduct exit interviews.
  • Prepare reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
  • Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
  • Contract with outside suppliers to provide employee services, such as transportation or relocation services.

Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent degree required; will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ progressively more responsible experience in Human Resources, preferably in a Generalist capacity with responsibility for a full range of HR activities.
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Strong level of competence with HRIS systems; UltiPro experience is a plus!
  • Ability to work Independently with direct supervisor located at another location.
