Positions: Proposal Writer
Location: Hybrid remote, onsite in Vienna, VA when needed.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing and editing skills and experience in government proposal production. A proposal writer in the IT industry is responsible for creating and writing proposals for potential clients and employers. The job involves researching the needs, understanding the products and services, and creating a proposal that outlines how the company can meet the client's needs. This role supports strategic messaging, tailors proposal content, and contributes strategy and/or editing of technical volumes as appropriate. The position is required to work with cormpany and/or subcontractor personnel to develop technical volumes, and other documentation in response to solicitations.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1.Determine proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs.
2.Develop storyboards, outlines, compliance matrices and other documentation associated with the proposal development process
3.Experienced in developing Federal IT proposals using best practices to produce winning proposals
4.Conduct SS/RFI/SOW/PWS/RFP analysis to become familiar with source materials.
5.Participate in color team reviews and recovery, technical solution meetings, and other collaborative events
6.Study requests for proposals (RFPs) and creates compliance matrices that address all customer requirements.
7.Develop proposal by assembling information customer-focused content, including executive summaries, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, past performance, and evaluation; writing, revising, and editing drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials; incorporate relevant past performance knowledge into writing and cite qualifications.
8.Participate in color team reviews and recovery, technical solution meetings, and other collaborative events.
9.Revise proposal drafts for clarity, compliance, and concision
10.Support the full life cycle of Federal IT Services proposals
11.Solid IT technical knowledge utilized in proposal writing
12.Prepare graphics, including figures, tables, and hypertext.
13.Improves proposal production process by maintaining past performance, boilerplate, and customer profile libraries.
14.Update job knowledge continually by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks.
Required Experience & Skills:
1.Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field.
2.At least 10 years’ experience in government proposal development and technical writing.
3.Experienced in developing Federal IT proposals using best practices to produce winning proposals.
4.Solid understanding of IT concepts, and ability to translate into technical proposal content.
5.Experience with Software Development Life Cycle.
6.Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio; SharePoint experience is an asset.
7.Experience writing about technical concepts, including IT infrastructure, systems engineering, software/application management (modernization, operations & maintenance) and cloud services, and interoperability.
8.Ability to interpret, understand and provide compliant responses to customer requests (e.g., market surveys, RFPs, statements of work, amendments, etc.).
9.Ability to manage assignments with firm deadlines and shifting priorities.
10.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
