Product Safety Engineer

Element Irvine/CA, CA Full-Time

Element has an opportunity for a Product Safety Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team.  As a member of the operations team, the Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision.

The engineer position must be proficient in a number of core business and technical skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.


  • Support testing of electrical/electronic devices to key National and International
    safety standards (such as 60101-1, 62368-1, 61010-1, and 60335-1)
  • Generate technical test reports which will be used as part of CE marking, NRTL,
    IECEE CB and other regulatory, legislative and certification requirements for electrical devices around the world
  • Generate technical test reports which will be used as part of CE marking, NRTL,
  • Support the development of new capabilities within the Product Safety Department
  • Carry out crucial examination and implementation of testing concepts and data
  • Be adept at drawing on internal knowledge as well as industry and/or academic resources in reaching testing conclusions

Skills / Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of laboratory quality aspects around ISO 17025
  • Possess a high level of expertise related to scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies and boundaries of chosen engineering discipline
  • Possess a degree or similar within an electrical based background
  • Previous experience of testing to core standards such as 60601-1, 62368-1, 61010-1 and/or 60335-1 would be an advantage
  • Possesses a demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of Element’s business
  • Can analyses and compile testing data from the tests performed

NOTE:  This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services.  U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required.
