An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated, industry established, senior professional leading the AMRS Region of the F&O and OTC Clearing Operation (Group Size 53) with oversight of offshore (GBS India) AMRS markets and Global support (Group Size 46), who is looking to further expand an already successful career in the field of Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETD) Operations.

The department has a Market Operation which comprises of, Clearing, Deliveries (Life cycle events), Income & Expense Reconciliation, Brokerage, Regulatory / Exchange Process Control, Static Data and Strategy. The AMRS Operation clears c120MM transactions aligned with c800MM contracts/lots p.a.

This structure is replicated regionally in Chester (EMEA) and Singapore (APAC) with 3 branch offices processing trading activity on 83 Exchanges, 35 Clearing Houses across 15 legal entities globally either directly or via Third Party Brokers.

Role Description

  • Regional Head of F&O and OTC Clearing AMRS, Chicago based, 55 FTE onshore + oversight of 46 FTE India, 101 of 249 resources globally.
  • The role is a direct report to the Global Head of ETD Operations.
  • Role is responsible for managing both domestic and international F&O Client business (International Clients trading locally in AMRS, and AMRS Clients trading globally).
  • Responsible for managing the integrity of day to day controls across AMRS Exchanges cleared & processed by the Operation.
  • Liaison with impacted parties and stakeholders including:
    • Line of Business e.g operational capacity to facilitate client requests
    • Front office trading business
    • Finance (Balance Sheet Substantiation)
    • Client Money
    • Transaction Reporting
    • Onboarding / Client Service / Collateral
    • Exchanges and Industry Forums
  • Continuous Improvement / Vision Setting of the Operating Environment with regards to our core Clearing functions globally (Leadership Influence & Development of Simply, Improve and Modernize (SIM) initiatives, Ongoing product /service offerings, Location Strategy programs).
  • Partners Closely with Technology, Operations Strategy & Front Office to drive change.
  • Works closely with other managers within Global Market Operations and Compliance to ensure consistent awareness of changing ETD Clearing regulatory environment.

Required Skills

  • Senior level Futures industry experience working for a Futures Clearing Member (FCM), Exchange, Clearing House or Regulator (SEC, CFTC, FCA, ESMA etc.)
  • Established active participation / membership of industry forums, specifically AMRS FIA Clearing Committee and or local regulatory Clearing / Compliance Committee.
  • Demonstrates leadership excellence, having led an organization in the past delivering superior tangible / quantifiable results (ROI, Operating Model, and Service Level Evolution).
  • Exhibit the ability to switch between macro and micro operating principles in order to design, lead and adjust the control operating model as the need arises.
  • Understand and adapt to regulatory and industry change (with local exchange, global regulatory ie CFTC, SEC, FCA, ESMA, PRA and Client Money working knowledge).
  • Proven track record of achieving results optimizing resources and driving efficiencies.
  • Excellent communication, effective with subordinates, peers and senior management.
  • Strength in identifying and implementing solutions for process improvement.
  • Hire, manage and develop staff to ensure excellent performance in current role, succession planning and role rotation.
  • Experience using FIS / Sungard GMI system, Execution Platforms, Exchange Terminals.
  • Experience with derivative clearing middleware systems, Global Seals, ClearVision, Prysm.
  • Thought leadership around Client integration/impact of industry change and participation in New Client RFP’s / business pitches.
  • Implement a global process / new products that delivers for business partners and clients consistently whilst maintaining responsible growth, operating controls and requisite regulatory governance.
  • Define and implement Best-in-Class / Market leading client solutions globally.
  • Ensure progress toward strategic tech solution (Next generation sub-ledger / interfaces).
  • Identify and close control gaps amongst the groups involved in a seamless client integration.
  • Support the client strategy of Top Tier rankings for on-boarding / maintaining SLA’s.

CORE SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • 10+ years experience in financial operations with client experience.
  • Strong leadership background, well versed in team management and influence.
  • Strong understanding of large complex organizations and how to navigate to deliver.
  • Strong problem solving skills, resilient in finding solutions.
  • Global Markets Operations exposure / thorough knowledge of ETD / OTC Transaction Life Cycle.
  • Broad influence across functions and organizational levels and the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders (Traders, Credit, Risk, Audit, Middle Office, Finance, IT).
  • Ability to balance ongoing responsibilities with initiatives/projects.
  • Ability to face off with senior business, clients and regulators to discuss detail as well as an ability to switch into strategic dialogue.
