Job Description

Position Summary:

Responsible for designing, planning, and coordinating the installation, repair, and maintenance of on-site equipment, systems, and structures. Prepares schedules and procures material and manpower for these projects.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Participates in all phases of design, installation, maintenance and repair of on-site mechanical equipment, systems, and structures.
  • Continuously reviews mechanical equipment, both physically and through evaluation of maintenance records in order to evaluate performance and efficiency, and to determine the need for repair or replacement.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints/schematics and technical manuals and provides assistance to the mechanical maintenance department on technical issues.
  • Inspects work-in-progress and at project completion to ensure that specifications are met.
  • Responsible for cost estimates on repair or replacement of equipment, systems and structures; provides technical cost estimates of time and material; writes detailed equipment, and repair-installation specifications.
  • Maintains documentation of modifications/repairs to equipment/structures or installation of the same, including drawings and repair reports.
  • Assists with ongoing preventative and predictive maintenance program.
  • Requisitions parts, equipment, supplies and contract labor using computerized purchasing/receiving system; tracks, reviews and approves contract labor T and M sheets and invoices.
  • Coordinates assigned projects with other departments, including scheduling and resolving problems; coordinating and inspecting work performed by contractors.
  • Promotes and enforces safety and environmental programs.
  • Develops Job Hazard Analysis and/or Safe Work Plans and conducts tool box safety meetings as needed to accomplish tasks.
  • Assist in the development of annual capital and operating budgets for Mechanical Maintenance section.
  • Extensive use of computer to review MSDSs, inventory levels, prepare purchase requisitions, work orders, drawings, project work scopes, repair reports and communicate by e-mail.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering             Or
  • Bachelor's Degree Chemical Engineering             Required

Experience Requirements:

  • 3 years Industrial Mechanical Maintenance Experience Required

 

Certifications and Licensures:

  • Valid Mississippi Driver's License Required
  • Successfully pass a security sensitive background screening. Required

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

  • Extensive knowledge of plant equipment, design and operation, problem identification, maintenance practices, and utilization of resources.
  • Ability to read, interpret, comprehend, modify and document changes to blueprints, schematics, equipment and instruction manuals.
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, plan, and stay on schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable policies and local, state and federal laws and regulations impacting areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to apply logic and judgment in resolving problems.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint; preventative maintenance software programs; purchasing and inventory programs; LOTO program and Internet skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with others in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
