The Hyperbaric Oxygen Technician, under the direction of the Program Director, administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the attending hyperbaric physician.  These duties include, but are not limited to, utilization of skills in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing patient care through the use of St. Francis Hospital and industry standards.

Provides hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments according to approved protocol and procedures.

Serves as the hyperbaric oxygen therapy expert for the Center.

Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards.

Follows the hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.

Serves as the Hyperbaric Safety Officer by performing under the Medical Director and Program Director.

Responsible for maintaining all facility safety-related standards as required by various licensing and regulatory agencies.

Works closely with the Medical, Program, and Nursing Directors to develop and annually review/revise department policies and procedures and operation and maintenance documents.

Maintains a safe environment in the hyperbaric facility for patients and staff

Provides wound care treatment to patients

Minimum Education
X High school diploma or equivalent X Required

Minimum Education
X Associate’s degree X Preferred

Required Skills
X Basic Life Support (BLS)

Required Skills
Georgia Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or EMT X Required

Minimum Work Experience
One (1) year of nursing or wound care experience

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
