Senior Cyber Security Analyst

Summary of position

Vulcan Value Partners, LLC is sourcing for a dynamic, professional, and well-rounded Senior Cybersecurity Analyst who functions in an efficient and detail-oriented manner. The Analyst will support all levels of the Company, and should be a team player, self-motivated, resourceful, and well organized. The candidate will protect IT infrastructure (including local and wide area networks, core server and cloud infrastructure, software, etc.). This position will be part of the IT team that supports all company mission critical technology. This position is based in Birmingham, Alabama and will report to the Director of IT. Travel requirements will be minimal.

This position leads, facilitates, and manages the development, modification, and operation of cybersecurity protocols including, but not limited to, information security policies and procedures, disaster recovery, business continuity, incident response, vulnerability scanning and remediation. The position maintains current knowledge of emerging security threats, technical challenges, and developments in systems protection, and IT security standards. Working with our IT and Compliance teams and 3rd party cybersecurity partners, this role develops and/or provides training and guidance on acceptable use, risk management, incident response, and security protocols to all firmwide employees. This role will periodically brief management and the Risk Committee on the status of security systems and protocols.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Primary owner for all cybersecurity related initiatives for the firm, including leading strategic initiatives and executing on details

  • Leads and manages the development and operations of cyber security protocols

  • Seek, develop, and foster relationships with firms external cybersecurity partners

  • Maintain knowledge of best-in-class cybersecurity and technology developments

  • Research/evaluate emerging cybersecurity threats and best-in-class prevention practices

  • Plan for disaster recovery, and create and maintain contingency plans in the event of breaches

  • Monitor for attacks, intrusions, and unusual, unauthorized, or illegal network activity

  • Test and evaluate security products

  • Design new security systems and/or upgrade existing ones

  • Use advanced analytic tools to determine emerging threat patterns and vulnerabilities

  • Identify potential weaknesses and implement technology and measures to protect firm and client data

  • Investigate security alerts and provide incident response

  • Monitor identity and access management, including monitoring for abuse of permissions by authorized system users

  • Liaise with stakeholders in relation to cybersecurity issues and provide future recommendations

  • Generate reports for both technical and non-technical staff and stakeholders

  • Develop and deliver targeted cybersecurity training to all firm employees

  • Maintain the information security risk register, and lead remediation efforts

  • Monitor and respond to phishing emails and pharming activity

  • Provide advice and guidance to staff on specific cybersecurity related issue

  • Schedule and execute cyber-security risk scenarios and evaluate incident response procedures

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

    Qualifications & Skills

  • 10+ years working in a technology focused environment

  • 5+ years in a leading and supporting cybersecurity initiatives

  • Bachelors Degree in a technical field or technical certifications/experience equivalent

  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills, able to work independently, and prioritize appropriately

  • Proficient with a broad range of security software applications and tools

  • Experience and comfort with engaging in many technical environments such as hardware, software, networking, data warehouse, Cloud SaaS, and recovery directives

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to easily build relationships and rapport

  • Ethical and trustworthy

  • Ability to work on teams with other technologists, compliance, business representatives, and external partners/SMEs

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities

  • Strong initiative and organizational skills
