The Intern will work on CI projects that directly improve the financial position of our positions and follow rigorous/thoughtful change management discipline to ensure all stakeholder needs are managed appropriately.  Scope will include supporting engineers and leading projects using data analysis techniques.

The Intern will contributes and/or lead CI projects aimed at revenue generation and/or cost reduction in the assigned Region.

As a Covanta Summer Intern, you will be exposed to different areas of the business, while making meaningful contributions to the company. Participants in the program have the opportunity to learn from industry experts and partake in immersive, hands-on projects that grant real-world experience. Utilizing what they’ve learned at Covanta, many graduates of the intern program go on to have successful careers focused on sustainability. 

Rising Seniors may be considered for our Early Career Development Program's 2021 hires.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Works on the development and implementation of operational excellence metrics and processed
  • Learn and use Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology
  • Complete a LSS Green Belt Project with demonstrated improvement
  • Collaborate with team members and work cross functionally
  • Communicate effectively


Position Requirements

Other Requirements:

  • Tenancious, 'can do' attitude
  • Curious and willingness to learn lean Six Sigma
  • Quantitative acumen with exposure to business/management and finance. 


  • Pursuing Associate or Bachelor's degree.
  • Engineering Major, especially Chemical and Mechanical.
