This position works under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer and assures provision of care to the assigned patient population in a professional manner, utilizing the nursing process and principles of continuous quality improvement in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. The Supervisor is responsible for 1) the supervision of all Perinatal staff nurses 2) assignment of duties, 3) auditing of documentation 4) ensuring conformance with policies and procedures, 5) provision of training and competency of staff and 6) successful organizational and administrative operation in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. This position may have a varied schedule, works some weekends and administrative stand-by. 


Required Education:  Must possess and maintain a current Registered Nurse License in California and current certification in BLS and Advanced Fetal Monitoring.  Must have a current certification in S.T.A.B.L.E, NRP, ACLS, and PALS or  willing to obtain within 6 months. 

Preferred Education:  Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).  TNCC certification.

Experience:  A minimum of 5 years obstetric nursing experience is required.  Two years’ leadership experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good analytical and critical thinking skills, good verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with physicians, management and other members of the healthcare team.  Team player that can follow a system and protocol to achieve a common goal.    Proficiency in use of electronic medical records.  Proficient use of Microsoft Office – specifically Word and Excel.  Ability to organize and triage.  Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including but not limited to administering treatments and medication, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care, collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patients and/or significant others.
