Research Associate - Analytical Chemistry

Medix is seeking an exceptional, highly-motivated and collaborative Research Associate to join the Analytical Chemistry team and help develop our proprietary cell-free bioprocessing platform to enable the production of novel RNAi products for the agricultural industries. The successful candidate will work closely with a diverse R&D team to achieve overall company goals and develop the platform of cell-free bioprocessing. Strong technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, along with a commitment to excellence and high-quality work are required.

Responsibilities:

* Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation, including HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS, IC, and GC systems

* Execute a range of established, HPLC-based assays to quantify target analytes in various sample matrices, following established SOPs

* Execute a range of standardized, plate-based assays, using spectrophotometric of fluorometric plate readers for analyte detection

* Process data, including some statistical analysis, calibration quality assessment, QC tracking, and deliver reports to multidisciplinary R&D team members

* Be accountable for accuracy of data analysis and timely processing of samples

* Detail-oriented tracking and documenting of experimental results and instrument performance in laboratory notebooks and company databases

* Analyze, summarize, and present experimental results to manager and other team members

* Work collaboratively with other R&D team members to accomplish project goals and milestones

* Use creative problem-solving skills to troubleshoot experimental challenges

* General laboratory assistance including lab equipment maintenance, preparation of reagents, and ordering/receiving of lab supplies

* Stay up to date with scientific and technical development within the field of analytical chemistry

Qualifications:

* B.S. or M.S. in chemistry, biochemistry, or equivalent

* 3+ years industry experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory

* Strong background in chemistry, with knowledge of biochemistry and microbial metabolism a plus

* Experience with molecular biology protocols and biopolymers such as RNA is preferred

* Familiarity with diverse analytical techniques for metabolite detection/quantification

* Experience with Agilent Chemstation, Waters Empower, or similar chromatography data systems

* Hands on experience troubleshooting analytical equipment

* The successful candidate must have high quality standards for one's own work, strong communication skills, and a commitment to team success
