Position Summary:

The Landscape Maintenance Crew Foreman leads our landscaping crew and is responsible for maintaining high-end homes, residential, and commercial properties
The ideal candidate will oversee scheduling work, organizing, delegating, and monitoring daily tasks, quality control, training, and leading the crew to achieve project goals.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Organize and manage daily and weekly schedules for the crew, making sure all tasks are completed on time.
  • Assign crew members tasks based on their skills and experience and make sure they're working efficiently to quality standards.
  • Inspect ongoing and completed work to make sure it meets high standards and project requirements
    Make necessary adjustments and corrections.
  • Work in hands-on with the crew, providing guidance, support, and training as needed to high quality and timely work.
  • Communicate with clients and property managers to understand what they need.
  • Lead special projects as needed including seasonal planting and larger scale work.
  • Be skilled at the use and maintenance of landscaping tools and machines like various kinds of mowers, trimmers, and blowers
    Make sure all equipment is in good working condition and safe to use.
  • Perform routine maintenance on landscaping equipment, including sharpening blades and care of small engines.
  • Promoting and enforcing safety measures and procedures to keep the crew safe
    Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Keep records of important information about the work, including work completed, equipment repairs, and any problems that come up among other details.
  • Perform hands on work as needed, including mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, mulching, and general upkeep of landscape alongside crew members.
  • Maintain the beauty and functionality of business, residential properties, and other locations.
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems, including the ability to monitor and adjust watering schedules based on plant needs, seasonal changes, and weather conditions to ensure optimal water usage and plant health.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on irrigation systems to maintain efficiency and prevent over- or under-watering.
  • Monitor landscapes regularly for signs of pests and plant diseases
    Apply appropriate treatments, such as pesticides or organic solutions, to protect plants while following safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Keep accurate records of all treatments applied and adjust care plans as needed to prevent future issues.
  • Whenever possible, use eco-friendly methods like water management and integrated pest control.

Minimum Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are the minimum degrees, certifications, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required of this position.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience leading a landscaping crew in both residential and commercial properties.
  • Driver license without restrictions that affect your ability to operate company owned vehicle(s) and ability to maintain a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug urinalysis screen.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
  • Completion of a trade apprenticeship in arborist, horticulturalist, or landscape design preferred.
  • Pesticide applicator license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to lead and guide crews, keep a team motivated and working together effectively and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of landscaping equipment and power tools, including hand tools, mowers, edgers, blowers, and maintenance
    The ability to provide basic service to keep the equipment tuned and in working order.
  • Knowledge of operating heavy equipment, such as riding lawnmowers, tractors, tillers, tree trimmers, Bobcats, backhoes, pressure washers.
  • Knowledge of grounds keeping such as lawn care, mowing, irrigation, fertilization, aeration, plant identification, pest and disease control.
  • Use and care of hand tools and power equipment necessary to perform various building and equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of how to manage landscapes for both high-end homes and commercial properties.
  • Good eye for detail, especially when working on high-end residential properties.
  • Problem solving on the job and coming up with solutions to maintenance, landscape, or crew concerns as they come up.
  • Clear and professional communication with both clients and your team, understanding and sharing expectations and objectives.
  • Able to effectively manage time and prioritize projects to meet established deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable.
  • Strong organizational skills for planning tasks and managing time.
  • Email, text, and other basic computer tools are necessary to communicate with clients, your team, and management.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear.
  • The physical demands of the job include the use of hands and fingers, reaching, bending, sitting, lifting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and driving and operating farm equipment.
  • The employee will frequently be exposed to neck flexion/extension, head/neck rotation, awkward shoulder/arm positions, and frequent and/or sustained awkward wrist positions
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently required to list up to 50 lbs
    and occasionally required to lift in excess of 100 pounds with proper assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Working Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be exposed to extreme weather conditions.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, extreme heat and extreme cold.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate when operating loud machinery.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat or cold, toxic, or caustic chemicals and risk of electric shock.
  • The position may require occasional weekends.

Travel Requirements:

The travel requirements described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to travel within the local area in a company owned vehicle.
