VICE PRESIDENT OF ACCOUNTING ROLE!!!! Our client is expanding the complexity of their statutory reporting (Insurance) and finding themselves in need of hiring someone with deep accounting research and principal understanding. This add to staff position will take on an experienced team, mentor and grow them in terms of skills and efficiency as well as effectiveness.
Responsible for working with the VP of Accounting to research and implement new and proposed financial accounting standards for GAAP and statutory accounting, including training the impacted departments (primarily Investment Accounting, Investments and Commercial Mortgage) and preparing implementation documentation and memos. Responsible for researching accounting for any new asset classes the company may enter into. Coordinate with external auditors on the appropriate application of new or emerging financial accounting standards (along with the VP of Accounting). Assists with the financial close process in both detailed review of key close related financial statement documents and drafting disclosures for financial statements in addition to other special projects that may come up during period end close process. Leads the enhancement of current expense management process, including responsibility for developing and administering a company-wide budget process and tools. Oversees the Company tax function, including the preparation of timely reviews of quarterly and annual tax provisions, effective tax rate analyses, etc. prepared by tax manager. Works directly with our external auditors related to implementation of new standards and other accounting research.
Our client will either hire someone directly out of Big 4 public accounting, Manager or Senior Manager level and above OR someone from an investment vehicle industry. Someone who wants to run their own team. Regardless, this professional must have a strong accounting mind set. CPA required. To $200K DOE.
