We currently are seeking a talented Calibration Technician. This key position will be based in our manufacturing facility in San Fernando, CA. Position Summary: Responsible for calibrating and testing equipment which measures weight, density, pressure, moisture, temperature, flow, etc. to adhere to MBRs and SOPs. Performs a variety of skilled technical work to include diagnosing, modifying, testing, maintaining, and calibrating a wide variety of electro-mechanical production equipment. Responsibilities:
• Responsible for verifying Company master calibration equipment within the required standards. Calibrate, repair, and update all manufacturing and Quality Assurance measurement instruments (electrical and mechanical) to the Company standards.
• Schedules and performs calibration of equipment in all facilities as needed. Makes recommendation of calibration frequency based upon historical data.
• Troubleshoot and adjust instruments to meet NIST calibration standards.
• Coordinates calibration of all standards and instruments with outside services to maintain NIST traceability.
• Prepares Calibration procedures and SOP documentation as needed.
• Generate reports and maintains detailed calibration logs. Maintains electronic schedule of instruments.
• Works with maintenance department for significant repairs and request needed parts.
• Uses computerized maintenance management system to access information.
• Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Requires a two-year associate's degree in engineering technology with courses in science, engineering or mathematics or its equivalent. Certification: Calibration certification required or must be obtained within six months of hire Experience: Requires a minimum of 3 - 5 years experience and training in similar calibration or metrology technician positions. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Requires:
• Knowledge of equipment setup, repair and troubleshooting of industrial machines. Knowledge of PLC or computer repair helpful.
• Solid computer skills including the use of Windows and MS Office applications. Experience with CMMS, Calibration software or relational databases required.
• Requires shop math plus the ability to read and apply blueprints and schematics, follow guidelines and/or diagrams to ensure product specifications are consistently met.
• Ability to use hand tools and electronic instruments to calibrate equipment. Use of digital meters and oscilloscopes is required.
• Able to communicate, read/understand complex maintenance manuals, safety procedures, communicate with supervisors and others, and maintain routinerecords. Physical Requirements: Stand/walk and perform physical labor for most of the working shift. Pull, push, squat, etc. to accomplish repairs. Intermittently lift loads of up to 50 pounds. Environment: Intermittent exposure to noise levels loud enough to require the use of hearing protection Warm or cold temperature levels, fumes, vibration, dust, etc. sufficient to cause minor discomfort. The employee shall wear protective eye wear, hair net, uniforms, gloves, safety shoes and at times, a dust mask. Safety: The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices, without endangering the health or safety of self or others.
