Education
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field required; Master's degree or CPA designation preferred.

Experience / Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in financial analysis or accounting, preferably in the healthcare or non-profit sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and generate actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting techniques, with expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including experience supervising or mentoring junior staff members.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and precision in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Knowledge of healthcare finance principles, including reimbursement methodologies and regulatory requirements, preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Computer proficiency required.

Position Summary

The Business Insights Analyst reports to the Director of Decision Support and is Responsible for providing support to the Decision Support Department.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Data Analysis and Interpretation:
  • Collect, cleanse, and analyze healthcare data from multiple sources, including electronic health records (EHR), financial systems, and operational databases.
  • Utilize statistical techniques and data visualization tools to uncover insights and trends relevant to hospital operations, patient outcomes, and financial performance.
  • Interpret complex datasets to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and revenue enhancement.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data, including revenue, expenses, and trends, to provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance.
  • Monitor budget variances and investigate discrepancies, identifying potential areas for cost savings or revenue enhancement.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to hospital and physician group operations, such as patient volumes, length of stay, readmission rates, and revenue cycle metrics.
  • Monitor performance against established benchmarks and budget, identifying areas of concern or areas for improvement.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to departmental leaders and executive management, highlighting trends, variances, and actionable insights.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for internal stakeholders, board members, and external regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements.

Forecasting and Predictive Modeling:
  • Utilize forecasting techniques and predictive modeling to anticipate future demand for hospital and physician services, resource utilization, and financial outcomes.
  • Collaborate with departmental leaders to develop accurate forecasts and scenario analyses to support strategic planning initiatives and resource allocation decisions.
  • Support the development and maintenance of annual budgets and forecasts, working closely with department heads to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Assist in long-term financial planning and strategic decision-making, providing analysis and recommendations to support organizational growth and sustainability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with stakeholders across various departments, including finance, operations, clinical services, and administration, to understand their data and analytical needs.
  • Partner with IT and data management teams to ensure data integrity, implement data governance best practices, and enhance data accessibility.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in healthcare analytics and business intelligence.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance analytical capabilities, streamline processes, and drive innovation within the organization.
  • Stay current with industry regulations and guidelines, ensuring compliance with all financial reporting standards and legal requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency, implementing best practices to optimize financial operations.
  • Special Projects: Lead or participate in special projects as assigned by senior management, contributing financial expertise to initiatives aimed at enhancing organizational performance.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and collaborate with finance analysts, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and expertise.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.
