The AI Research for Monetization teams are part of the AI Innovation Center for Ads and Business Products (Meta AI). We incubate and integrate state-of-the-art AI/ML advancements and best practices into the Ads products, helping these products hit their long-term and company-critical goals. Partnering with the product and infrastructure teams, we have contributed over $30B cumulative value for the company in the past two years.This team works on a wide variety of ML areas in the ads ranking space, including ranking (e.g., end-to-end joint modeling), retrieval, user modeling, AutoML, semi/self-supervised learning, graph learning, large-capacity modeling (e.g., Transformer), signal growth (e.g., recovering from signal loss due to opt-out users for privacy purposes), and any new ideas you want to bring to the space.In particular, Ads Supply is a relatively new area. In Ads Supply, we leverage AI/ML technologies to optimize the trade-off between ads revenue and user engagement. We are employing tree-based models, deep neural nets, content understanding, user understanding and reinforcement learning in this area. Our team at Meta AI offers twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) weeks long internships and we have various start dates throughout the year. **Required Skills:**

Research Scientist Intern, AI Machine Learning Ranking (PhD) Responsibilities:

1. Perform research to advance the science and technology of machine learning

2. Devise better data-driven models of human behavior

3. Contribute research that can be applied to Facebook product development

**Minimum Qualifications:**

Minimum Qualifications:

4. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in the field of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, or similar

5. Experience with Python, C++, Java or other related language

6. Experience with deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch or Tensorflow

7. Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

8. Experience with ML areas such as ranking, retrieval, user modeling, AutoML, Transformer, semi/self-supervised learning, and graph learning

9. Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as publications at leading workshops or conferences such as ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, KDD, ACL, EMNLP, CVPR, etc.

10. Extensive experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches

11. Experience manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources

12. Strong interest in theoretical and empirical research and for answering hard questions with research

13. Experience building systems based on machine learning, reinforcement learning and/or deep learning methods

14. Demonstrated software engineer experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub)

15. Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment

16. Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op

**Public Compensation:**

$7,650/month to $10,250/month + benefits
