The Vice President, ATLAS Payer Partnerships, is entrusted with the strategic and operational growth of ATLAS within the payer community.  The Vice President, Payer Partnerships is responsible for engaging payers, developing strong client relationships, executing, and implementing payer solutions, and developing payer solutions to demonstrate ATLAS benefit to payers and ultimately to the payer membership.  

The ideal candidate will have a professional and educational background in substance use disorder treatment, extensive knowledge in the insurance industry, extensive knowledge of outcomes and quality indices in the insurance industry, knowledge of the addiction treatment system, health systems, and experience in client relationships.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Oversee all relationships with the payer stakeholder segment.
  • Expand the numbers of partnerships with payers from the current seven payers to dozens, and ultimately hundreds through efficient outreach, superior relationship management, and a dedication to creating value through improved health outcomes and lower healthcare costs to payers and their members in the following segments:
    • Encouraging their members to utilize ATLAS to attend the most appropriate level of care (e.g., outpatient, residential), with their needed services (e.g., medications, mental health services) with providers that are in-network and deliver treatment consistent with the [ Link removed ] - Click here to apply to Vice President, Payer Partnerships.
    • Improving both the accuracy and breadth of data through the collection and analysis of claims data.
    • Increasing the quantity and quality of data through encouraging providers in payer networks to complete the Facility Survey at least annually.
    • Increasing the quantity of data through encouraging members in payer networks to complete the Patient Experience Survey after attending treatment.
    • Working with payers to utilize ATLAS data to ensure that the providers in their networks are providing treatment consistent with the Shatterproof National Principles of Care.
    • Working with payers to utilize ATLAS data to build Value-Based Payment Models for the providers in the networks.
    • Partner with the Vice President, Treatment Quality and Strategy, and Chief Policy Officer to improve the current payer portal to provide value to payers to improve quality metrics and outcomes. 
  • Establish clear milestones, metrics, and targets for the ATLAS Payer team in line with the ATLAS strategy.
  • Build, lead, and grow the ATLAS Payer team while creating a culture of teamwork and collaboration aligned with the ATLAS strategy.
  • Manage all costs associated with Payer partnerships consistent with the revenues received from Payers.
  • Partner with our Chief Policy Officer as necessary around policies that impact insurers and ATLAS.
  • Develop and implement protocols to prioritize health equity as a core principle in the continued development/expansion of ATLAS with payer networks.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree is required with a preference for a focus on healthcare, finance, or public health focus; Graduate Degree preferred (MBA, MPH, MPA, etc.) or equivalent education and experience.
  • 12+ years of experience within the substance use disorder field preferably with extensive experience in the healthcare insurance industry.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of substance use disorders, addiction medicine/treatment, and related behavioral health programs strongly preferred.
  • Solid executive presence, professional credibility, and subject matter expertise, as well as impeccable ethics and integrity.
  • Demonstrated experience understanding, prioritizing, and interpreting client needs to develop platforms/ programs that provide value to clients.
  • Excellent and persuasive communicator; exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Action-oriented and self-motivated, with exceptional judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively to bring tasks and projects to completion.
  • Strategic thinker, capable of capitalizing on the current functionality of ATLAS with payers and the ability to be forward thinking about ways to utilize ATLAS in the future for payers/ payer membership so that ATLAS becomes the immediate go-to solution for members seeking treatment, not just now, but for generations to come.
  • Capable of building and maintaining strong formal and informal relationships with payers.
  • Passion for Shatterproofs mission and improving behavioral health access and outcomes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on the computer
