Employee will be embedded as part of Jacobs Engineering Group field team to provide plant based projects at a large scale pulp and paper mill, producing pulp, high quality coated paper (i.e. magazine paper) and other paper products. The individual needs to be organized and able to handle multiple projects at the same time.
Candidate will provide mechanical and piping design engineering on multiple mill projects which can happen concurrently. Candidate will interface with operations, maintenance, mill engineering and follow projects from design inception, through installation and start up. Position requires mechanical design and engineering experience, in an industrial environment, to have solid knowledge of or a willingness to learn about mill operations, equipment, and design processes and possess a can do, self-starting attitude. Candidate will need to be flexible in methods and in time to meet priorities as set by client. Candidate will normally be responsible for the creation of their own CAD drawings.
Among other things the candidate will do on-site field survey work and provide checkout and startup assistance. Candidate must be able to climb ladders, work in a pulp and paper mill environment and work in confine spaces.
This position is responsible for managing all aspects for the implementation of projects including:
•Development of project scope, estimate and justification
•Generation and submittal of capital expenditure requests
•Development of Equipment and Material specifications
•Support of the purchasing process
•Piping and Mechanical layouts as well as Piping ISO
•Management of the detailed engineering process using internal and external resources
•Review and mark-up of external drawings
•Contractor inquiry, award and management
•Insuring that project documentation and training is completed to world class standards
•Cost tracking and budget management
•Managing project schedules and coordinating outages to plan
This position will also be required to supply technical support to Maintenance and Operations.
Essential Function Responsibilities:
Plan, budget, develop and direct capital projects
•Provide technical engineering and project management oversight for the design, installation, and maintenance of projects
•Be able to complete required documentation quickly and efficiently
•Assist with troubleshooting related to operations and maintenance
Ability to manage multiple priorities within multiple concurrent project timelines
•Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word
•AutoCAD experience is a must
•Experience in process piping/mechanical design and equipment layout is a must.
•The ability to work and thrive in a 24/7 industrial environment
•Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
•Pulp and Paper experience preferred
