Description:

SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant, Revenue, is a critical member of the U.S. Accounting team, participating in creating, analyzing and reporting timely and accurate financial information for management and investors. Working independently, the Senior Accountant, Revenue, is a subject matter expert for accounting for sales, marketing, and sales fulfillment across U.S. sales channels. The senior accountant also assists his/her manager in overseeing and reviewing aspects of the work of the staff accountants.  

Demonstrated technical accounting aptitude and the ability to build and maintain processes to ensure accounting requirements are met are essential to success in this position. The senior accountant builds impactful working relationships to support business partners and to ensure all financial transactions are timely recorded and supported.

The senior accountant will play a key role in the monthly accounting cycle and will assist his/her manager with special projects, as necessary, with an emphasis on improving team processes and procedures and more effectively reporting on ongoing operations. He/she will interact with his/her supervisor several times a week to receive guidance and feedback.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for accounting for sales, marketing, and fulfillment activities
  • Maintain process and policies & procedures documentation for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Prepare and record journal entries
  • Analyze and explain business drivers of balance sheet and income statement variances
  • Prepare, maintain, and understand balance sheet reconciliations
  • Perform a detailed review of staff accountant journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and account variance explanations as assigned
  • Provide accounting support to various business units and departments as assigned
  • Coordinate with business partners to identify monthly accruals
  • Work collaboratively within and across departments to identify process improvements that lead to more accurate, efficient, and sustainable outcomes
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis as requested by management
  • Prepare audit schedules and assist the auditors in their inquiries
  • Assist in special projects and reports as needed within the general scope of this role
  • Maintain strict confidentiality required of company financial data
  • Proactively collaborate within the scope of the role to simplify processes, enhance financial analysis, strengthen controls, and better leverage financial systems.

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience required
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • CPA certification or candidate preferred
  • SOX experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and optimize the use of technologies preferred
  • Retail experience preferred

  • Proficient knowledge of office computer platforms and applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of Dynamics GP (Great Plains) preferred
  • Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities
