Overview

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and aluminum extrusion production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.



Responsibilities

  • Abides by company rules and policies and procedures
  • Understands that performing job tasks in a safe manner is the highest priority.
  • Complies with Lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Has read and understands department JSA’s.
  • Reports any unsafe condition or act immediately to Supervision or HSE Manager.
  • Fills out \u2018Near Miss’ paperwork on any unsafe condition or act.
  • Participates in daily pre shift safety talk.
  • Understands company safety and environmental initiatives and acts as facilitator on the floor to promote those initiatives.
  • May be asked to participate in accident/incident reviews and develop corrective actions.
  • Responsible for housekeeping and 5S in his or her respective area of work or areas as directed by the departmental supervisor.
  • Performs Preventive Maintenance duties in a timely and thorough fashion so as to minimize the production of hazardous and special wastes
  • Utilizes non-hazardous materials where possible in place of more hazardous substances
  • Processes oily water, as required, in such a manner as to prevent oil and grease from being introduced into the wastewater collection system
  • Conducts work in such a manner as to reduce the potential for chemicals and oils to be deposited on surfaces subject to stormwater discharge
  • Responsible for his/her own health, security and safety and shall cooperate and contribute to the creation of a safe, secure and healthy working environment and to the achievement of the Company’s environmental obligations and goals
  • Writes PLC programs and works directly with hydraulic systems.
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities to supervise maintenance projects and repairs.
  • Trains maintenance department personnel in areas such as PLC, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Organizes work crews and interacts positively with management at all levels.
  • Performs electrical troubleshooting and reads electrical diagrams and symbols.
  • Reads and interprets hydraulic, schematic, basic electric, electronic and OHM laws.
  • Reads and interprets PLC programs. Trouble shoots problems in PLC hardware and software
  • Performs jobs with knowledge of AC & DC drives.
  • Provides routine maintenance on hydraulic systems such as oil gear, Rex Roth, Racine, Vickers, etc.
  • Identifies stored energy and performs all Lockout/Tag-out procedures according to company policy.
  • Observes mechanical devices such as presses and draw benches in operation.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Initiates purchase order for parts and machines. Repairs electrical equipment.
  • Recommends necessary training to upgrade skills level to Maintenance Manager.
  • Participates and is fully engaged in continuous reliability improvement of all equipment and processes
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Must be able to understand and deliver basic commands in English.
  • Must read and understand all work and safety instructions relevant to their specific position.
  • Must be able to use and maintain all basic tools and measuring equipment pertinent to their specific position.
