Summary

Under the direction of the Vice President of Accounting, the Accounts Receivable Director is responsible for ensuring that his/her area of responsibility executes its part of the accounting strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties may include the following: (other duties may be assigned)

  • Oversees centralized Accounts Receivable, ensuring standardization and compliance with established policies and procedures, regulations of applicable regulatory agencies, and company standards.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership to Accounts Receivable management team, encouraging development and providing mentoring moments whenever possible.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with direct reports and overall team and promote open lines of communication management, employees and other departments.
  • Set objectives for the accounts receivable team members that align with the department’s goals and partnering with Human Resources to address opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee and manage unbilled reconciliations and analysis, maintaining variance analyses between revenue and billed amounts.
  • Develop and track department-level production and performance metrics to detect trends and make proactive adjustments to maintain adequate service levels.
  • Measure the viability of process improvements and system enhancements by quantifying recommendations geared towards reducing waste and increasing business results.
  • Communicate regularly with Operations and Sales to ensure a high level of customer service while enforcing consistent policies.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance in the AR collection and cash application process

 

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Minimum of 5 years senior level accounting experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong leader with proven ability to build a loyal and skilled team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Must have the ability to work well with people and be a team player.
  • Must be a self-starter and detail oriented.
  • Must possess good reasoning, analytical, and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Experience in personnel mentoring and training.
  • Must be willing to travel.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Involves sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity to operate specialized equipment.
  • Needs high degree of concentration in a busy area.
