The Senior Field Service Engineer is responsible to maintain, install and repair Sciex products at both internal and external customer sites, including our strategic accounts. The Engineer resolves all assigned customer and technical issues and partners with Sales and Service management to drive customer satisfaction. This role mentors and develops staff members on more sophisticated instrumentation and complex workflows.
This position is part of the Field Technical Service, Region 6 department, located in Chantilly, VA and this position will be remote.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
* Assist the District Manager with leading technical discussions, special projects, identifying resources and training needs, and filling in for the DM as needed.
* To gain in-depth experience and proficiency in performing high quality installation, repair and maintenance on mass spectrometers, HPLC and/or capillary electrophoresis instrumentation.
* Maintain, install and repair Sciex products at both internal and external customer sites, including strategic accounts. This position works independently to resolve all assigned customer and technical issues.
* Partner with Sales and Service management to drive customer satisfaction and business objectives. Also, mentors and develops staff members on more sophisticated instrumentation and complex workflows.
* Train our customers and troubleshoot and resolve difficult service situations both within assigned accounts as well as across the district/region.
* Completes administration duties (logging service activities, expense reporting, inventory).
* Utilize your skills and training to accomplish a solid understanding of Sciex or competitive products including applications and software workflows.
The essential requirements of the job include:
* Associate's degree (A.S./A.A.S) or Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent experience (i.e. Military Certificates in electronics or avionics).
* We provide company car, company gas card and 50% + travel, by vehicle, within Boston, Cambridge or Maine area. Maintain a valid Driver's License. Meet Vendor Credentialing requirements.
* 6+ years' experience as a field service engineer and deep knowledge of Mass Spectrometry or related scientific instruments experience.
* Ability and willingness to lift up to 50 lbs.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
* Prior experience using and/or servicing Mass Spectrometry, capillary electrophoresis or related scientific instruments is beneficial.
* Proficient knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical technology and all required safety protocols.
* Experience in Problem Solving Processes & Kaizens.
