Description

Are you looking for part-time employment and like to drive?  


The City of Olathe is seeking a part-time Container Truck Operator to work Mondays and Fridays performing the activities and operations of the assigned call & haul dumpster rental program; provide assistance to other Solid Waste staff and the public regarding assigned programs and services.  


Key Responsibilities

The Work:

  • Complete daily call and haul dumpster delivery and removal and transport refuse to the Solid Waste Transfer Station or approved disposal/recycling/composting facility as directed.
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning as necessary, including cleaning the inside and outside of solid waste facilities, making minor repairs and improvements, coordinating with supervisor for proper maintenance to be performed, participating in the preparation and cleaning of job sites, and removing refuse and debris.
  • Complete daily reports and related documentation and correspondence for all operations and activities within the area of responsibility.
  • Accept a responsible role in implementing the safety culture of the department; ensure the adherence of safe work practices and procedures; ensure compliance of Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Ensure that the equipment and vehicles are operated in compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Cooperate with immediate supervisors to ensure all customer service requests are resolved; respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Assist in the implementation of City and Department goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for each assigned service area; adhere to established work standards to ensure alignment with City goals and mission.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education

Here's What You Need:
Experience: One year of experience in assigned function area is desirable.

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent.  Formal or informal education which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance required.

Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid Driver’s License with a favorable driving record.

Supplemental Information

Pay:  $14.00 non-CDL 

         $14.50 CDL


Schedule:  Mondays & Fridays 7:30 am – 4:00 pm.
Non-benefited position.
