Job Description Overview Captioning Technical Writer professionals with knowledge of Section 508, W3C, and/or WCAG to work on captioning and transcription of all audio files supporting the agency. A successful Captioning Technical Writer should have strong English language skills and be able to accurately caption audio. Key Responsibilities * The Captioning Technical Writer is responsible for captioning all forms of videos produced by the agency. * The main focus of this position is to consistently maintain a high level of accuracy and speed, so candidates will have to have significant multi-tasking skills to be successful.
* Delivering content within regular often short timetables * Coordinating with other technical writers to get a stronger level of accuracy
* Assists with the origination, conform, reformatting, and delivery of closed captions while ensuring clarity, readability, and accuracy.
* Listen to program audio and produce captions using captioning software and equipment
* Quickly and promptly providing captions Required Skills Qualifications * Broad knowledge of English language, grammar, and punctuation;
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
* Excellent listening skills
* Ability to work with team as well as operate independently
* Strong attention to detail
* Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously according to planned timelines

* Applying automation methods and techniques
* Experience and knowledge of Section 508 requirements for closed captioning
* Experience with post-production workflows, including knowledge of common recording and playback formats and standards
