Department Information

Indiana University-Radio / Television Services, WTIU Public Television, and WFIU Public Radio serve south-central Indiana, producing a wide range of radio and television programs for local, state, and national distribution, as well as many non-broadcast productions for the university and community.

Job Summary

Develops proposals and presents underwriting, production support, special event, and web opportunities to businesses, professionals, and advertising agencies under the supervision of the Sales Manager. Explores prospects, signs, renews, and services new and current corporate development partners for WFIU Radio and WTIU TV programs and promotional activities. Develops prospecting and lead strategies for both stations with involvement from station managers / staff and participates in station activities and events.

Note: This is a full-time, professional staff position, eligible for all full-time IU staff benefits. Pay structure includes a base salary plus sales commission.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, telecommunications and two years of experience in media development or sales, including experience working cooperatively with production, traffic, or programming departments.

Combinations of education and related experience may be considered.

Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.

Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with a wide variety of individuals, including public and private clients and groups. Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation. Proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in personal and electronic contact of prospective and client companies, utilization of media research tools, and creation of presentation materials.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, public broadcasting.

Working Conditions / Demands

Ability to travel mainly in south and central Indiana. with some national training travel. Ability to spend long periods of time operating a computer and talking on the telephone. Ability to participate in face-to-face meetings with clients. Ability to courier materials between clients (internal and external) and WFIU and WTIU production departments.
