Telecom Install and Service Specialist

Tentative Schedule: This is a full-time opportunity; Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

A Telecom Install and Service Specialist designs voice communication systems, determines Datacom mode of transport, oversees installation of these systems and services, and provides maintenance and service after installation. They administer adds, moves, and changes of phone systems and servers. They manage telco vendors and coordinate work with equipment vendors. They coordinate with the network team on issues related to or affecting the WAN environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinate and monitor all orders for new stores/store moves, store remodels, store renovations, and acquisition installations.
  • Design and program new systems as requested by director.
  • Determine and install Datacom mode of transport.  Identify equipment needed and keep equipment coordinator informed.
  • Handles remote adds, moves, and changes on store systems as may be required.
  • Coordinates orders for installer terminal line installs, cordless phones, & fax machine lines.
  • Work closely with store design, real estate, loss prevention, and acquisition teams to coordinate installations.
  • Tier 2 support to help support technicians for troubleshooting phone problems for all locations. Will determine action, repair issue or place order for service.
  • Implement network changes as agreed upon by SDG to improve network performance and integrity.
  • Verify completed orders and close tickets.
  • Complete projects as requested by telecom director.
  • Update POTS form.

Skills and Qualifications


  • High school education.
  • One or more years of telecom experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal and team skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of voice communications terminology and infrastructure.


  • Four years telecom experience in coordinating new installations.
  • Experience with construction schedules and layouts.
  • Extensive knowledge of voice/data infrastructure, terminology, phone systems, and installations.
  • Exhibit project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced computer experience.
