Overview

Under direction of the Health System Strategic Initiatives Director, primarily responsible for the day-to-day project management of  projects assigned by the Director, CEO, or other senior level leadership (C-Suite) by using problem-solving and analytical analysis that help support decision making and practice improvement activities of various areas of the Mercy Health System. Will work independently and within multi-functional teams on projects that span the entire health system

This position will mainly receive instructions for special projects and analyses directly from the Health System Leadership team. Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Must have a bias for action and be able to work independently and be results oriented. Must have an understand of the current healthcare market with knowledge on management, business, and healthcare finance.

Performs related duties as assigned. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Responsibilities
Prepare and present both written and oral reports regarding the status of the project, variances, benefit realization, and project budget analysis.

Dependent on project, will assist in the development and management of capital and operational budgets, including monthly variance analysis. Monitors and manages other financial metrics as assigned.

Analyze financial and other operational data and provide input and recommendations to the project.

Responsible for maintaining status reports and project metrics and appropriately triage and categorize all incoming work. Presents weekly status updates and reports to Executive Leadership and project sponsors at regular intervals

Maintains constant communication and updates on project progress, issues, and risks. Works with many different co-workers and teams across the entire Health System.

Employs strong risk analytics and risk mitigation strategies, presents alternatives to Executive Leadership.

Assists in the formulation, administration, and coordination of project management best practices and policies.

Conducts research and best practices for projects.

Will include minimal travel within the Central Communities region with or without Mercy Leadership.

Responsible for communication and presentation development and documentation preparation. Develop presentations for standing meetings, special topics, updates, retreats, etc.

General Duties:
Wears proper personal protective equipment when appropriate.
Observes universal precautions consistently.
Wears clothing and Health System badge consistent with dress code, and attends to personal hygiene to maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance.
Meets Health System attendance standards
Performs related duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

Experience: Bachelors degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field required.

Licensure: None.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in healthcare, business, or other related field. Experience must be consistent with job duties  - project management, management level experience, or other professional experience that relates to the job responsibilities. Experience working with Microsoft Office specifically to make PowerPoint presentations, and to manipulate data in Excel.   

Certification/Registration: None.

Other skills & knowledge (skills, knowledge, abilities): Critical thinking and problem solving skills with strong verbal and written communication. Ability to perform financial analysis and identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and/or efficiencies. Ability to compose correspondence both written and electrically with appropriate grammar. Must be able to use a high level word processor, database, spreadsheet, and PowerPoint software. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at one time with multiple project teams. Able to operate in high energy, high work demand, and ever changing work environment with a professional demeanor. Capable of both teamwork and to be creative independently. Position requires highly organized and accurate individual.

Working conditions mental and physical requirements consistent with an office setting. Prolonged sitting during meetings and in office on computer. Potential for walking from one facility to the next with minimal driving requirements from one facility to the next. Hearing and speech capable of communicating with employees and others by telephone and email. Vision capable to view computer monitor, files, forms, text, and numbers for prolonged periods of time.

Equipment used:Computer, copier, telephone, fax, calculator.

Preferred Education: Master's degree in business, health administration, or related  field preferred.
