The North Dakota Federal-aid Highway Division is hiring a Transportation Financial Manager (GS-0501-13 - $103,409 to $134,435 annually) in Bismarck, North Dakota. To apply, visit

This position will provide authoritative financial advice to the Division Office staff, State and local governments, and other transportation partners by reviewing and interpreting national financial policy and providing leadership and coordination in formulating and implementing local policy and procedures to enhance FHWA’s stewardship, ensure accountability of Federal funds, and achieve organizational excellence in delivering the Federal-aid Highway and transportation program in North Dakota.
As a Transportation Financial Manager, you will:
- Serve as a technical advisor for FHWA division personnel, Headquarters personnel, and State DOT employees on various phases of auditing.
- Be responsible for establishing, reviewing, and maintaining internal controls to achieve the objectives of effective and efficient operations, reliable financial reporting, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Develop financial management reports and conduct analysis to help resolve financial operations issues.
- Oversee the collection, review, and communication of data requested by financial statement auditors or other outside entities requesting obligation or payment data.
The ideal candidate for this position is a self-motivated person with knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and Federal laws, regulations, Executive Orders, policies, procedures, and guidelines related to finance with the skills and abilities to effectively represent the agency to Federal, State, local officials, and other key transportation stakeholders.
The ideal candidate must have the ability to gather, assimilate and analyze information, resolve issues, and possess excellent communication, negotiation, and partnering skills and a desire to work in a challenging, complex, and innovative environment.
