Job Description

Working with the Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Services group, this position offers good variety of work and will see you involved in:
  • Delivery and accountability for technical assignments and successful management of Industrial Hygiene projects 
  • Investigation and report writing
  • Preparation of proposals and bids for projects
Duties will evolve with experience in a dynamic, challenging, and fulfilling work environment. Are you up to the challenge?   Scientists will be called upon to support large and small projects throughout northern California. Work tasks will vary greatly, but may generally include: performance of industrial hygiene surveys (for asbestos, lead, and other hazardous materials), environmental compliance documentation, contractor monitoring, environmental data collection, report/specifications production and regulatory standard interpretation
Key Requirements:The following are required for all applicants:
  • Associate’s degree in physical science, environmental science, engineering, building systems, or related field (relevant on-the-job experience may be considered in place of degree)
  • Cal/OSHA Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) or Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) certification
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently effectively and efficiently
  • Willingness to travel for up to a week at a time
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite 
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for discrete periods of time
  • Experience with general construction safety protocols and equipment
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare comprehensive reports
  • Adept at working with a multidisciplinary team in a diversity of challenging conditions 
  • Must have a California driver’s license and a clean driving record

Preferred Credentials
  • The following credentials and experience are not required, but will qualify the applicant for special consideration:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Industrial Hygiene or other related field - Cal/OSHA Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) certification CDPH Lead-Based Paint Inspector/Assessor, Project Monitoror Lead Paint Sampling Technician 
  • 40-hour or 24-hour HAZWOPER training
  • Strong technical writing capability
  • Knowledge of project management, project design, and worker safety protocols
  • Work at heights and/or confined space training
  • Two plus years of experience in the environmental field

What you will bring to the team:
  • Proven experience in delivering industrial hygiene projects and good understanding of industry standards
  • Your experience in compiling scoping briefs of technical specifications
  • Your experience of providing technical recommendations for bids as well as writing and crafting proposals for projects
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely
