In addition to technical work, you will have leadership responsibilities, helping shape the direction of compiler and programming language development activities at HRL.

Required Skills:

  1. Superb understanding of operating system fundamentals, the C ABI, programming language runtimes, and programming language implementation.
  2. Excellent skills in profiling and debugging.
  3. Practical knowledge of several different programming language paradigms, including functional and logic programming.

  5. Experience doing academic research in computer science or mathematics is a plus.
  6. Demonstrated skills on a non-trivial programming language implementation.
  7. Outstanding programming skills, including full cycle software development with Git.
  8. Excellent code review and mentorship skills.
  9. Knowledge of quantum computing and quantum mechanics is a plus.
  10. Knowledge of Common Lisp (We use Steel Bank Common Lisp) is a plus.
  11. Familiarity with scientific and numerical computing is a plus.

Required Education:

Bachelors in mathematics or computer science, or equivalent knowledge gained through industry experience.

Special Requirements:

  • US citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
