Regional VDC Manager - Philadelphia

The Regional VDC Manager heads the regional VDC department and is responsible for leading preconstruction, engineering, and field installation of all BIM related project deliverables for the business unit or region, providing strategic and contract guidance, and supporting the development of staff and project launch.   

Essential Duties & Responsibilities*:

  •  Provide expertise to Regional and BU leadership, VDC Managers & PMs, and regional clients including information regarding local standards, owner requirements and standards.
  • Work with Operations staff to plan for project staffing, hiring, project BIM uses, and innovation opportunities.
  • Oversee activities of VDC Managers and/or VDC Project Managers and provide performance feedback.
  • Visit project sites as required to launch projects successfully, and maintain quality through execution phase.
  • Work with National VDC Manager and other Regional VDC Managers to maintain and continuously improve BIM standards to increase quality and reduce errors and waste.
  • Support National VDC Manager in the pursuit/alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Organize and lead business unit instructor led training's and workshops to develop our BIM staff
  • Be seen as an industry leader through speaking engagements and relationships
  • with engineers, design consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and owner’s representatives.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of ten years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience with progressively more responsible exposure to design, cost, sequence, logistics, and field installations of project components as it relates to BIM and construction. Thorough knowledge of construction BIM tools and applications in cost, scheduling, estimating, and coordination principles. Proven written and verbal communication abilities; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite. Utilizes leading-edge technologies such as BIM and LEAN. Demonstrated ability to present technical material. Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills. Should specifically be proficient with BIM based computer applications such as Navisworks Manage, Trimble SketchUp, Autodesk Revit.

Physical Demands: Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to occasionally climb permanent and temporary stairs, climb ladders, negotiate work areas under construction, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally requires passenger use of construction personnel hoists. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job regularly requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk, hear and stand. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee works on-site at the construction worksite where the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in this work environment is usually moderate to very loud.
