Your mission

The role

The creation and execution of order specific compressor test plans, including specification of test equipment and operating conditions, the reduction of test data and the writing of the test report.

  • Ensure that all compressors are tested in a manner such that the minimum ACC and customer requirements are met.
  • Prepare (with the collaboration of Engineering and Test personnel) a complete test specification for all required tests.
  • Perform and/or direct the data reduction of all production tests to all contract conditions.
  • Determine (with collaboration of Contracts, Engineering, and possibly the customer) the acceptance of all production units.
  • Expedite the acceptance process up to removal of the unit from test.
  • Develop methods for increasing the overall efficiency of the data reduction/test report process.
  • Initiate action to correct any and all deficiencies discovered during the testing process and coordinate the decision whether or not further testing is required and, if so, to what extent.
  • Provide feedback to engineering technical database.
  • Provide required pipe/orifice/valve sizing for tests.
  • Maintain data acquisition equipment and lead in troubleshooting activities.
  • Involvement in continuous improvement projects for test hardware, software and general test equipment.
  • Direct and/or assist in troubleshooting mechanical and controls problems.
  • Direct test personnel and make decisions relative to schedules in the absence of the Test Team Leader.
  • To comply with Safety Rules, Regulations and OSHA Requirements

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 2 years experience in Aerodynamics or direct experience in compressor performance testing
  • Computer literate and able to write simple programs for use in simplifying data reduction
  • Strong basic knowledge of single and multistage compressor performance and the factors effecting it
  • Basic understanding of rotordynamics and vibration analysis of centrifugal compressors
  • Understanding and familiarity with vibration measurements  and data acquisition equipment
