Salary Range: $76,553 - $88,037 - $99,519

Description:  Coaches business leaders and employees on employment matters including corporate policy and procedures. The Senior Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for partnering with business units and internal/external resources to recognize and implement solutions for wide-ranging HR issues including corporate re-organizations, cross-functional initiatives and projects, employee performance issues, investigation of employee complaints, alleged ethics violations, questions of policy interpretation/application, and employee transitions within and/or out of the company.  This role works closely with legal counsel and provides technical guidance of Equal Employment Opportunity and other employment law matters to other HR functional areas and business leaders.  Regarded as peer leader with respect to matters of Employee Relations and supports with training and development initiatives for Employee Relations team members.
Essential Functions (not an all inclusive list):
1.Responsible for the most complicated, complex, and sensitive issues and investigations.  Partners with legal, other HR functions, and business leaders as appropriate to investigate and resolve issues.
2.Responds to employee relations issues such as internal employee complaints and harassment allegations as well as inquiries/charges from federal, state and local government agencies including the EEOC, Department of Labor, office of unemployment, etc. 
3.As appropriate, leads investigations, prepares written investigative reports, and makes recommendations on resolution based on company values, policies, standards and practices.  
4.Provides ongoing counsel to leaders and employees regarding performance, conduct issues and questions of policy.  This includes comprehensive intake of the matter, recognition of past-precedent, providing coaching on effective tactics and appropriated processes, initiation and follow-through on formal steps (Performance Improvement Plans, Warning, etc.), and issue closure.
5.Leads and/or assists with employee terminations, outplacements, and leaves, including those of company Senior Leaders.  Serves as primary liaison for affected employees, their leaders, and support functions (IT, Security, HR Assist, etc.).  Coordinates and utilizes appropriate tools and procedures (Severance, Outplacement, Benefits, etc.)
6.Partners with HR Shared Services to handle complex leave/ADA issues and accommodations.  Initiates the interactive process as needed.  Partners with TPA on solutions and accommodations.  
7.Acts as key HR business partner for company-wide projects including re-organizations, corporate initiatives, and program roll-outs.  Responsible for partnering with other HR functions and business units to develop strategy, coordinate/align with business partners and execute project deliverables.  Provides project guidance regarding employee advocacy, questions of employment law and application of appropriate corporate policies and procedures.
8.Recognizes situations of employment risk and/or opportunity for improvement and partners with key stakeholders to develop and implement solutions.  Appropriately and consistently interprets and applies company policies/internal procedures, industry best practices, and employment law standards.
9.As needed, acts as primary back-up/support to HR Leaders with respect to company and departmental initiatives, communications and changes.  Serves as mentor and coach to peers in development and transition.
10.Leads and supports with onboarding, training and development efforts for new Employee Relations team members. 
11.Maintains thorough and compliant documentation of all issues including electronic and paper files.  Has access to sensitive and confidential information including personnel records, salary information, and medical information.  Responds to requests for legal holds and coordinates the collection of files and data as requested.
12.Stays current with HR and employee relations best practices and trends, applicable employment law and corporate policies and procedures.  Trains and educates peers, leaders and business partners around the consistent application of these items.  As directed, represents organization at local, state and national meetings and conferences.
13.Travels as needed in order to perform other essential functions.

Desired Qualifications:
1.8+ years of experience in Human Resources experience supporting on site and virtual clients.
2.5+ years of experience handling the most complex and sensitive employee relations issues and investigations.
3.SPHR or SHRM-SCP designation.
4.Knowledge of Federal and State laws, and skill in applying fundamental HR laws, principles, practices, methods, and techniques for providing advisory services on management-employee relations support that include discipline.
5.Familiarity with employment situations and documents including those related to employee terminations, company re-organizations, employee complaints, and external relations (including but not limited to unemployment, outside legal, law enforcement agencies, etc.).
6.Experience and demonstrated ability to recognize and mitigate risk related to employment decisions and practices. 
7.Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills resulting in the ability to interact with all levels in the organization.
8.Valid driver’s license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.  Ability to travel as needed, including on very short notice.

•Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing and working on a computer for extended periods of time).
•Ability to work in a fast paced, stressful environment.
•Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as:  telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.
•Ability to travel as needed, occasionally on very short notice.
•Ability to operate an automobile within the parameters of the driving policy.
