Job Description:
The Storage Engineering Analyst requires an individual to be able to assess and understand client data storage and backup needs, select the appropriate products and develop the appropriate processes to meet those needs, and certify the solutions for deployment. These activities include:
Storage/Backup technology evolutions including staying abreast of industry developments and actively participating in discussions with storage/backup vendors
Develop integrated processes and support tools for the products
Participate in storage/backup management infrastructure certification activities
Develop detailed deployment & operational documentation for the products and processes
Develop and steward security risk assessments for storage/backup products
Perform capacity and growth planning/forecasting as part of design with specific performance requirements
Attend SWAT or incident resolution calls as Level 3 resource. Consult in root cause analysis

Additionally, some operational support activities are required including backups & storage arrays, monitoring tools, and archive system break/fix support.

Individual will need the ability to work with minimal supervision and possess strong technical knowledge.

Skill Requirements:
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of storage and backup technology
Windows Server and/or UNIX OS experience and knowledge
Strong analytical & problem solving skills
Self-starter and self-motivated
Interpersonal and negotiation skills - effectively interact with staff, peers, & management
Planning and coordination skills - effectively multi-task & progress many work items concurrently
Strong technical writing & communication skills
Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and processes
Creativity & innovation
Team player
Desirable Skills:
Design and planning for SAN/NAS storage arrays and backup tools based on best practices
SAN Switch Infrastructure design with best practices
Automation, testing, API development, UNIX/Windows scripting, CI/CD Pipeline
Hypervisor (VMware/Hyper-V) knowledge
Operations Support Tools (SCCM, SCOM, OCI, OCUM, Zenoss, etc.)
SQL queries, Tableau and/or any other reporting tools
IT Security Practices and change management
Experience in Agile practices is a plus

Basic Function of Work Group:
To test, integrate, and deliver new storage & backup infrastructure hardware & software with the associated security, installation, configuration, and operational documentation. The team is also responsible for the testing of code maintenance levels for operations to deploy to existing infrastructure utilizing automated processes where possible. The group provides support for and engages in customer projects & base requests.

Windows Server OS: Windows, 2012 R2, Win 2016
Hypervisors: VMWare vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V
Application deployment: Microsoft SCCM
Automation & Configuration Management: Ansible, Puppet, BMC Atrium Orchestrator,
Monitoring tools: Zenoss, SCOM, Splunk, Moog, OnCommand Insight, BMC Remedy
Storage: Dell/EMC VMAX, ECS, & Isilon. NetApp AFF, FAS, E-Series and associated OS
SAN: Cisco MDS, NX-OS, DCNM/SAN, QLogic HBA
Backup: CommVault Simpana
Archival: Project Archival & Retrieval System (PARS)
